The cases have arrived from China and have been inventoried. Right now, we have prepared or shipped 40% of Backers Rewards. During the week we will continue to ship more rewards, so please stay tuned. Here are the cases ready to go.
Not Everything is Perfect...
Upon inspection all of the rear cases have micro-abrasions from the molding process. We suspect this is due to the temperature setting or cycle time. While we believe at least eighty percent of backers will be satisfied, we are still trying to aim for perfection. This issue affects only U.S. shipments.
All clear case backers will receive free goodies related to this project and also be eligible to get a second (perfected) case FREE! The Backer is only expected to cover $79 postage costs direct from China if they elect to have the second improved case. Second cases should arrive within 2-3 weeks from the date we have a final production list. To those with the Kitchen Sink and Green Jade kits, you will receive corrected one as the current ones are not acceptable as they have other flaws. Please allow 3-4 weeks, we think it will be worth the wait to have the best cases possible. Below is a photo representative of the cases we received.
We did want to take a moment to thank everyone for their patience. The project was behind schedule and over budget. Shipping and unexpected tariffs were double their expected costs at $8,000. This project has presented us with many challenges which we have learned from. Fortunately, our manufacturer agreed to give us a 50% discount on second cases, we will be covering all the manufacturing costs associated with this secondary production.
In order to speed up the arrival of the shipment from China we've moved the port from Chicago to Los Angles. This gets the shipment here faster as more ships go to the port in Los Angles. Once they arrive there they will be delivered by land to the port of Chicago. The shipping company (OOCL) said our estimated arrival day is January 25th. We are hoping to have backer reward turnaround time to be 72 hours. We don't anticipate any additional updates until they have arrived in Chicago.
This is the moment we've all been waiting for. We have started shipping rewards to backers. As of December 10th all rewards to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region have been fulfilled. Tracking numbers have been uploaded (FedEx, TNT, etc). This represents 25% of all backers. The costs were the same whether they would come to the U.S. first and be forwarded to Eurasian backers. We decided to have backers get them sooner rather than having to wait.
We are still waiting for the freighter to depart with the cases for North American backers. Our original goal was to ship before year end to North American backers; However, due to freight carrier delays, we estimate final shipping date for January.
Please not that Eurasian backers will receive at least 2 packages. One direct from China with their case(s), and one with accessories such as rubber feet and any add-on items. The packages from the U.S. are expected to arrive within 2 weeks of the original package.
